Shutter Island - Easily the best film I’ve seen in ages - superb taut psychological thriller that is just perfect - location, script and performances are superb and DeCaprio gives his best performance yet - and shot with a growing sense of dread and unease throughout…...brilliiant 5/5

My initial thoughts about DiCaprio was that he was just a pretty boy matinee idol rather like Tom Cruise. But his performances in Blood Diamond & The Departed changed that perception to me. Not seen Shutter Island yet, and his latesr film Inception also looks a cracker.

Yup - same here - used to joke about give a boy a man’s job but since Scorsese took him under his wing he has turned into a very good actor - and he’s still only 35….

The Book of Eli - Interesting Biblical post-apocalyptic tale with Denzil carrying the worlds last bible across a ruined land - Gary Oldman has fun as the crazed warlord with some nice cameos and a cool twist at the end. 4/5

Solomon Kane - Sword and Sorcery epic with lots of hacking and slaying along with a thoughtful philosophical undercurrent - James Purefoy broods and the use of landscape and weather is very well utilised - terrific stuff

Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll….Ian dury 3.5/5
Some interesting flash back bits in the movie about some of the abuse he suffered because of the polio he contracted when young, but overall the movie lacked something? There was less music in it than i expected.

I really liked it - thought Andy Serkis was extraordinary in the role - after 5 minutes you forget you’re watching an actor - its The Man up there on the screen - and Bill Milner just gets better - hope he can made the leap into adult acting…...

Went to see the following at the IMAX in London in 3D… so I guess that makes a good film great in itself…

Shrek 3D - Not as good as the first but still goof fun - 4/5

Toy Story 3 - Best Toy Story of them all and my personal fave movie of ALL time - 5+/5

And… yes, I was blubbing in the end with all the other guys… kids and mrs were laughing at me!
