Almost -

England’s 23-man squad for the World Cup finals:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham).

Defenders: Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa).

Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Aston Villa), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City).

Forwards: Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).

Make that 4 from Tottenham - more than any other team…....and poor little Theo - gets taken to Germany last time but is never played and gets dropped this time…...

theo didnt deserve to go

he has blistering pace yes, but his use of the ball is terrible

wastefulness like that would have seriously hurt us in south africa

lennon and wright-phillips make much better use of the ball

Stevieb,

Apologies….pedant alert….
Chelsea also seem to have 4 players in the squad! So Spurs don’t have more than any other team!

Is it considered unpatriotic if i’m cheering for the latina teams? - i doubt i will be alone! .... the skillful and dynamic strike force downstairs in Lancaster Gate!!! smile Surely you didn’t think i meant Torres, Fabregas, Messi, Molito, and the brazilian superstars!!

Roll on 12th July!....or until england’s untimely exit, does it mean that there is more likely to be 4-4-3 formations than 2-1?! smile

Sorry footy fans ....(which i’m so obviously not!) cool hmm

Missed that obvious point - so its 4 players each - and I too reckon we have more chance of scoring with the Latino’s down stairs than England do…...

rooney hasnt scored in ages for england

crouchs goal scoring ratio speaks for itself and defoe is pretty clinical in front of goal

oh agree defoe is clinical, on par with rooney, and crouch I think is a good striker well rounded, good shot, header, hold up play only lacks pace but stil has a bit of that,

Defoe I think can do it, but I tihnk he lacks that dynamisim that rooney has, but against lessor teams I think he will tear them apart

think he got it right on walcot though and joe cole,

wouldnt mind seeing 442 in a diamond

first team for me

james,

johnson, terry, carragher, ashley cole

lennon, lampard, gerrard, SWP

rooney, crouch

i’d swap crouch for barry and have gerrard sat behind rooney in a 4-4-1-1, barru being the holding player

that way you have crouch and defoe to throw on if needed, both capable of bagging a late goal if needed and you allow both gerrard and lampard to push forward for goals like they do for their teams

I’m getting confused - I’d happily crouch for any of the girls at LMP or sit behind them in any formation - all the girls are great at bagging a late goal and I’m always happy to push forward if needed LOL

I can see your point TSM, perhaps a couple of over lapping full backs would help, along with a good pair of strikers would do for me.
