I can describe my feelings at the moment as a mix of pure excitement and absolute terror! Martin, yes I’ve been trawling through the Forum, especially the newbie queries so I hopefully know a little about what to expect, although of course nothing will be like actually being there on the day!
I’m also hoping to take on Antonias advice and ‘join on in’ when invited to do so and make the most of the party experience where appropriate.
I guess the hardest bit will be walking into the unknown and getting used to the etiquette of a party, e.g. everything from the formalities when you first arrive to how you go about approaching a lady to initiate play (or join in if already in action with another partygoer) to what sort of small talk do you engage with other partygoers (as I say, I’ve never been in a situation even remotely like this before!) etc etc.
On one hand it would be nice to stand back and observe what goes on and ‘see how things are done’ for a little while, but on the other hand I’ll only be able to afford a 2 hour party and my visits to London are rare so I’ll want to maximise my time there!
From reading the Forum it certainly looks like everyone is well catered for and there will be nothing to worry about – as I say it’s just that initial venture into the unknown, once you’ve done it once and broken the ice I’m sure it gets so much easier!
